Received a text message today reporting that Anna and Ashley arrived safely at Forest Camp, their first destination on the trail (elevation 9222 ft). Anna said, "It was a good hike!"

That is fantastic! You both are awesome! Bill and I will keep you in our prayers as you continue on your journey.

This is really exciting...and all I'm doing sitting on my couch with my laptop reading about it! (Anna, when you get home and read this, all of my friends you've met in DC are keeping up with you/this trip through me...they don't want to talk about anything else!)

Thinking about you both constantly and hoping all is well with your progress. I am excited about your lofty goal and can't wait to hear all. I want to know that the KOKO sign will be posted somewhere on the mountain to remind any and all who follow you not to ever give up. You are an inspiration to us all.

Way to go, guys! My friend Ted and I just summitted with Kiliwarriors on September 15th--you have definitely selected the right outfit! They will take great care of you, and Louis' meals will definitely keep you going. I can't believe the awesome food he prepares! Just remember, Pole-Pole! And when the going gets tough, just look at the awesome scenery around you and take it all in. I remember that day two was a little tough, but the days after that are easier--and if you are climbing the Western Breach, have no fear of it! It was not nearly as daunting as I thought it would be--the scenery is amazing!! Good luck, and I'll be following your journey.

So far so good. Wondering which day had the steep incline. Praying for you every night. Remember that it's not just reaching the summit or seeing what's on the other side....IT'S THE CLIMB.
Vaya con dios!
